Dentures
People often take their full smiles for granted until they lose teeth. Missing teeth can make chewing and speaking difficult, diminish your self-esteem, and cause other problems, like bite issues and bone degeneration. To replace teeth lost from disease, decay, or injury, Dr. Backiewicz and Dr. Thompson can fit patients for custom dentures. Our dentist will examine your mouth and then suggest partial, full, upper, or lower dentures to improve your image and revive your oral health.
Dentures are prosthetic teeth built on a gum-colored base and designed to mimic a natural smile. With full or partial dentures, patients can enjoy the benefits of a complete set of teeth. Full dentures are held in place with adhesive cream. Constructed with one or several prosthetic teeth, partials fill in the spaces, no matter where the gaps appear in your smile. Partils are secured with discreet metal clasps that attach to neighboring teeth.
Once we receive your custom dentures, you will return to our office so that Dr. Backiewicz or Dr. Thompson can make necessary modifications and ensure a proper fit. Your mouth will need several months to acclimate to the dentures, and you may need to come back in for periodic adjustments. Remember to soak your dentures daily, gently brush your gums and any remaining teeth, and practice good home care to ensure the longevity of your replacement teeth and smile.
